My Two Player Setup

At first I was looking to setup a single unit in my Man Cave and was considering the modified adjustable lamp approach. I have limited space so I wanted to attach directly to the wall. I could not figure out a way to properly attach the lamp section to the wall as well as support the weight of the VB. I ultimately decided on a track based system, I just needed to figure out how. At some point during this process Kevin released his link cable. I then decided I needed to have a two system setup. I found someone on eBay selling camera mount adapters for the VB.

I was skeptical but they work really well and I do not have any fears of the VB becoming disconnected. Through my searches for a track system that contains a camera mount capability I discovered Scotty Gear Head which is designed for boats. I ordered a 4ft track;

x2 adjustable arms;

x2 track adapters;

and x2 camera mounts;

I cut the track in half and mounted the two pieces on either side of a 1x1 and attached to the wall. The system works great, I have no stability concerns. It is not as adjustable as I would like (it takes some effort) but it is adjustable enough that I can move the VBs for the appropriate height for whomever is playing. I then needed a way to mount the controllers onto the wall for ease of use. Again I went to Amazon and found a product designed specifically for what I needed;

Not exactly what I envisioned but I like it. I needed a condensed space as I am building a MAME cabinet to fit into the space between the VBs and the wall. Yes my Man Cave has always been Red and Black =).

That is super cool!

I think I'll replicate in my garage. I have a constant two player setup for cable testing and development. I use similar hooks for my htc Vive and Oculus touch controllers.

I wish I could convince my wife to paint the room red!

Really impressed by this.

Thank you!! If you are going to replicate I would suggest having it a bit further out from the wall. It is a bit of a pain adjusting the height and I will probably end up scraping some of the paint of the wall in the long run after adjusting it a lot.

Love this idea. So cool. Certainly something I may do when I get a second unit.

If you like the idea and decide to copy the hardware I used I recommend putting the tracks separately flat against the wall on their own studs. This would allow you to loosen the track adapters and move them more freely without worrying about scratching the wall. That is what I wanted to do but real estate is limited in my Man Cave. Now I need a third unit so I can set it up for solo play by my computer upstairs. I will be sending another set of displays to bennybtl soon for soldering. I will probably be looking to implement the adjustable lamp for that install so if anyone has any advice let me know.

Just thought I'd add a couple pics of my friend and his son enjoying the setup.

Nice work man !
I'm considering the lamp mount solution at the moment because i have trouble finding a good setting for my unit.

But the wall mount is also a great alternative... i'll think about that.
