I'm pretty upset over all this. I spoke with a rep at NoA an she said there's definitely no release of it for the US and that we can try to change things by calling and having them make a feedback ticket over it. Alternatively, tweeting NoA and starting petitions is another way she said. With her advice I went and made a petition. If any of you that are with me in feeling this way could sign this, I'd appreciate it. Thanks https://www.change.org/p/nintendo-rele ... -new-3ds-in-north-america

I've signed it for you. I believe we should all have the same opportunity to buy Nintendo products and any other product for that matter.

Thank you :) I can't believe Nintendo with this system. Don't even let me get started on the whole charger nonsense...

Wait, hold up, they're not releasing the new 3ds here?? Only the XL version then? Damn, I don't like the XL, I always liked the smaller ones.

Well I guess this means I'm sticking with my old 3ds

Yeah sadly that's the case for us. I'm stuck with my friggin 2DS. I got it thinking I would upgrade to the N3DS only to find out now I can only get an XL. I am not happy. I'll get the XL since I collect but I want a smaller one for myself to play on :( Curse you Nintendo!!

This is the lamest shit "N" has done in awhile, and that's saying something. I've had the 3DS XL since it was released here in the states, and while it's not bad, I realized I really din't need the extra weight, or the HUGE screens, so I was very much looking forward to the medium size screens of the N3DS standard size.

I was never really concerned that NOA wouldn't release it, my only real issue was if we would get the white unit with Super Famicom button layout or not(or just black). WOW, how shocking that we didn't get either.

I've really grown to dislike the Iwata/Reggie regime of the last 5 or so years, but as of yesterday, I've grown to actually hate "N" and these Ass Backwards decision they continue to make.

I want so much to support this great company I grew up loving, but it's just getting beyond ridiculous to even support these clowns any further.

For anyone who uses Club Nintendo, we all get those crap surveys with every purchase to help the company make improvements, but how about asking through these channels what units consumers would like, and in what colors?

I'm now seriously looking in to "hack" alternatives to the N3DS, so I can import the unit I wanted(since NOA doesn't want my money), and be able to play games from my region.

Petition signed, and then some.

Jumpman you couldn't have said it any better. I want to hang Iawata/Reggie's heads on my wall in my gaming shrine. I cannot stand what they've done to Nintendo and I used to love the system but friggin give me a break, everywhere except NA is getting it?! No one is getting/has gotten chargers with theirs? Holy crap what are they thinking. Those two as a team fail harder than our beloved VBs did. At least there's a fan base for the Virtual Boy :P

Actually come to think of it, this is a lot like what Sega did with Shenmue. Release the first one everywhere, get everyone hooked on it, then when the second one comes out, decide to release it in every region but NA.

BTW is the 3DS region locked? I thought all Nintendo handhelds were region free, since you know, people travel with them. This allowed me to buy my GBA SP in Japan (Famicom edition, ooh yeaaah). Come to think of it, I bought my PSP in Japan as well. I didn't have to worry about buying more games for them here because all that stuff was region free back then. Was Nintendo seriously daft enough to make the 3DS' region locked?

You don't know how daft they are? Just search any popular gaming forums, and you'll find hundreds of topics on this exact issue, and how no one likes it.

Yesterday when I was telling another friend about my hate for "N" after this announcement, he asked why I didn't just import like he's known me to do hundreds of times over the years, and I had to explain how the 3DS was region locked, and his question was the same as yours.

Why, when all their past systems have not been. This is what they now do, and why their business is so in the toilet. Every other major system or console is region free, but not "N".
