What's up with the SNES mouse pad? Is that the "grey plastic store display base"?

Looks very nice, kind of wish you had broken it up some. I could use the games as I only have a few. Those loose ones would have been perfect, also still lacking a stand which sucks.

Good luck moving it all in a lump like that, sure someone will dive into it to save a big headache.

When VB was on the retail shelves in the US, the video game retailer Electronics Boutique would display the VB unit on their counter tops using the gray hard plastic tray and two sided cardboard sign. Thus its being listed as that. I never knew it was previously the SNES mouse pad. Thanks for pointing that out!

That's funny, I guess if they had it kicking around why not.

You might want to clarify in your listing though, there is an actual Virtual Boy display base exclusive to Japan that routinely goes for $1000+.

Thanks for the input. I updated the listing. Electronic Boutique probably had a stack of them in the back and put them to good use. I appreciate the clarification.

No worries. I am curious though, you mention a cardboard sign, are you talking about the tall one in your auction?

My thought is maybe EB cheaped out when the VB came out, if they were using SNES Mouse pads and a portion of the VB display signage, rather than buy an actual VB display.

Iím thinking you are correct. The cardboard sign I have is two sided and was displayed behind the VB unit on the counters at the EB stores. It was a very simple setup and not as elaborate as some of the displays I have seen in the past.

Very interesting, thank you for the insight. It's cool to hear recollections of how various stores displayed these. I don't recall the stores in my area even going as far as busting out the SNES pads, they literally just didn't advertise it. I remember kiosks for SNES, N64, Dreamcast, but absolutely nothing for the Virtual Boy.
