I have an N64. When it broke, we brought it to a game store. They fixed it by using powdered alcohol and wipes on the cartridge slot. Does it work on the Virtual Boy, or will it break it?

Games I need to fix:
-Mario Clash
-Mario's tennis

The connector on a VB cart is very different from NES/SNES/GB/N64 type carts, it can't be wiped or rubbed clean since the contact surfaces aren't visible...

Anyway, why do you think the carts are dirty? It's more likely a problem with the VB itself.

No, my VB works, and I just discovered that my copy of Mario Clash works, but my copy of Mario's tennis doesn't. I also noticed in the manual it said not to clean the games with alcohol. My VB is near the air conditioner in my house, so when I took of Mario's tennis's dust cap, a gust of wind may have got into it. N64 carts are less fragile than VB carts, then since the N64 cart said not to blow that may have damaged the VB cart.

i dont think a gust of wind would ruin a vb cart unless that air condition is spitting out deadly levels of mold.

Many manuals say that, but fact is, alcohol is excellent cartridge cleaning material. They probably just wanted you to buy special cleaning kits instead or whatever.

Yeah, it's kinda like how they hot dogs come in packs of 10 and buns come in packs of 8. They wanna make cash. Sorry if this post is crappy, because the back of my skull is buzzing. That must mean I have a sugar rush.

Have you tried inserting and pulling it out of the VB a few (or a lot of) times, that might wear through possible oxidation.

Just buy 5 packs of bread then and 4 packs of hot dogs and save what's not going to be eaten immediately in the freezer.

We actually have 10 packs of bread in Sweden now-a-days. ;-)

I give the extra two hotdogs to my dog.

and as e5frog said, try to insert and remove the game from your VB unit firmly multiple times. If that doesn't work, get a drop or two of electronics cleaner in the cart pinout, repeat the same process, and make sure you give enough time for the cleaner to dry off inside the cart and VB console. I've never seen a truly dead VB cart that wasn't physically damaged to begin with.
