Released 20 years ago today! I'm going to celebrate by playing some games on the underrated red and black wonder.

This has come up a few times in the past. The process is straightforward enough. To quote... me...

The battery is a CR1616, spot-welded to the tabs.

I put a new one in my Wario Land a few years back. I de-soldered the tabs (with battery attached), then used a blade to get the old battery free. Then I soldered the tabs back in place.

Next I slotted the new battery between the tabs and closed everything back up - I didn't bother using anything else to secure the battery as it seemed to stay put just fine. And It still works, so yay me.

I hear some places sell batteries with the tabs attached, but it wasn't too difficult freeing the dead one and simply reusing them.

Thanks for clearing that up speedy and Lester. Sorry if my post came across as suggesting a conspiracy - that wasn't my intention. There just seemed to be a piece of the puzzle missing and I was scratching my head trying to figure out what I'd missed.

I get that it's unlikely to be put up for sale but how did people end up with copies of this?

Reading the comments on the news story it seems there are a few copies out there. I figure a small amount were made by someone and then sent out to people they knew, but in one of his comments Lester mentions picking up two copies, suggesting there was at some point an opportunity to order. Did Tusker stick up an order page for half an hour?

That connecting a SNES controller seems like a cool feature although the VB controller (based on the demo) works well - Mortal Kombat Armageddon did something similar with the Wii version when using a Wiimote.

This used to happen with me a lot, but I found adding some buying requirements helped.
Quote:

To select buyer requirements for all your listings:

Go to My eBay.

Click the Account tab, and then click Site preferences on the left.

In the Selling preferences section, scroll to Buyer requirements, and click Show.

Click Edit.

On the Buyer requirements page, select your requirements.

Click Submit to save your requirements.

My requirements are currently set to block anyone that:
-Have received 2 unpaid item(s) recorded on their account within 1 month(s)
-Have a primary delivery address in a location I don't post to
-Have a Feedback score of -1 or lower {EDIT: this isn't actually possible any more now they don't let sellers leave negative feedback}
-Have a Feedback score of 5 or lower and no credit card on file

On the preferences page there is also a link to a blocked bidder page, where you can add people to stop them bidding/buying on any of your future listings.

Some games are too glichy (or don't run at all), but I've still had fun with this. The 3D effect works well and I'd definitely be interested in seeing this emu progress.
