Planet Virtual Boy

Bought a complete VB Unit (Eyeshade, Controller, Battery Pak, Stand), everything looked fine, but the unit wont turn on.

Now, I knew before buying that it was defective (CHF 60.-) and mainly bought it for replacement parts.

But it still urges me to have it working again.

I tested with two different working and tested controllers, with batteries and adapter plug, both also tested on my other unit. But it just won't turn on:

No vibrating mirrors
No audible click from the speakers
nothing.

I tried reinserting controller and game for 20 times, didn't work (yet).

Any suggestions?
alas, I'm unable to open the unit, lack of long game bit.

Maybe somebody used an incorrect AC adapter and fried the voltage regulator?
