Don't you think that it's brilliant that the PVB Coding Competition has brought out all of this brand new homebrew for the system? Not to mention Krisse's BLOX 2, which is an amazing improvement on it's precursor. I, for one, had developed a cynical attitude towards the homebrew scene, in my opinion the Virtual Boy sadly never met it's full potential. It's getting there. I'm sure that this, marvellous, marvellous explosion of home programming won't be the last, which makes me even happier, and makes the attractiveness of the Flashboy even more apparent!

Certainly this is a sign of good things to come for the Virtual Boy!
Sadly, all this homebrew explosion makes me wish that I had something more to contribute. One day, perhaps. Haha.

Getting back to the point of my post, what does everyone else think about the future of the Virtual Boy?

It might be a limited future, but this explosion, this spark in a barely lit fire, assures me that the Virtual Boy will always have fans, gamers, and games.

I think it's great. I've been thinking that the VBoy could use a good racing game, and then the contest brings us not one but TWO racing entries.

I think the contest has been a real success, and I hope to see more in the future...

I don't know that the competition necessarily did a whole lot for the VB's future (I guess maybe some new tools will be helpful), but it made some of us stop being lazy and actually make something worthy of showing off ;-). Hopefully some of these games will be completed, and maybe we can finally see some games that really push the hardware to the limits. If we're lucky, maybe it'll encourage some others to join in and make some games as well.

Either way, it's been a lot of fun, and it was really cool to see all those new entries roll in on the same day.
