Planet Virtual Boy

So, I bought a Virtual Boy at a flea market yesterday.
So far, it's working perfectly, and I'd like to keep it that way.
Storing it, though, worries me a little.
What's the best/safest way to store it to ensure minimal damage to anything inside that could break?
I've already been told that it can't "take a bang," but is there anything else I should be aware of??

Anything else to be aware of, just don't go twisting the IPD and sliding the focus back and forth for a laugh, set it up, leave it. Although now i think of it some folks here do say keep the IPD all the way to the left (I think left) when storing.

I wish I'd known that, I have the IPD and focus set all the right, it's all blurry and warped if I do different... Is this bad?

Turning the IPD dial all the way to the left (as counterclockwise as you possibly can) is a recommendation for long-term storage, so that unnecessary strain isn't put on the display cables, which can easily separate from the PCBs inside the Virtual Boy. Thus, if you are not going to use your Virtual Boy for any length of time, simply turn the IPD dial counterclockwise until you can turn it no more, and keep it like that until you use it again. Of course, if this setting isn't comfortable on your eyes for use, you can adjust it to what is comfortable for you when you use it, but once you are done, turn it completely counterclockwise or all the way to the left, however you want to state it.

As far as I know, you don't have to worry about the position of the FOCUS slider when storing your Virtual Boy, as this slider has no effect on the position of the display cables. Thus, you can keep the FOCUS slider, which slides left and right and does not turn, in whatever position you want.

Do you keep it in a container/bag where it's a perfect fit, or with some wiggle room?

@nibiru8722: my bag is quite a close fit (so not really any wiggle room), the VB sits with lens facing up (not on purpose its just how it fits in the bag), the stand tucked behind (i do find it pushes on the foam visor a bit so have started to keep the stand out of the bag) the controller fits with the power adapter etc in a front pocket. Not perfect but it works, keeps dust out and i don't have to use my original box.

@morintari; when you say lenses facing up, you mean the visor part up, or the other way up? Like...the part you look into is facing up?

To anyone who owns a hardcase: Can anyone give me the approx inner dimensions of the official hardcase, length, width and depth (of case and lid), the inner dimensions are what i want to use so my hardcase could in theory use the same foams.
