Besides the more common EP-ROM cartridge, the was also a development cart using FLASH ROM in the shape of a normal Virtual Boy cartridge. Those could be written with a Flash Gang Writer.

There were two variants of 8 and 16 MBit, both with SRAM Batteries.

The cart show on the images below has a different pinout than retail cartridges, to work with prototype Virtual Boys, which also had a different pinout on the cart connector. It's unknown whether there were also flash carts with a retail pinout, since this is the only one than ever surfaced.
