Description

J.League 3D Stadium (Jリーグ3Dステージ) was the working title for an unreleased soccer game for the Virtual Boy from J-Wing. It was slated for release in Japan on March 20th, 1996, but was ultimately cancelled when the Virtual Boy was discontinued. Not much is known about the game, as the only ever mention of it was when it was announced at Space World ’95. The official show catalogue reads:

バーチャルボーイ初のJリーグ公認ソフトなのだ。ボールが目前に迫ってくる3D視点、立体感がたまらない!?
(It’s the first software certified by J.League for the Virtual Boy. The ball comes at you, right before your very eyes, in a 3D perspective with an irresistible stereoscopic effect!)

As an officially licensed J.League game, it would’ve likely featured all 16 teams of the 1996 season:

  • Avispa Fukuoka
  • Bellmare Hiratsuka
  • Cerezo Osaka
  • Gamba Osaka
  • JEF United Ichihara
  • Júbilo Iwata
  • Kashima Antlers
  • Kashiwa Reysol
  • Kyoto Purple Sanga
  • Nagoya Grampus Eight
  • Sanfrecce Hiroshima
  • Shimizu S-Pulse
  • Urawa Red Diamonds
  • Verdy Kawasaki
  • Yokohama Flügels
  • Yokohama Marinos
